Job Summary – The VP of Supply Chain Operations is responsible for leading, implementing, measuring, and directing a clinically integrated supply chain across multiple hospital campuses. This position will provide leadership in expense management for a facility with an aggregate supply expense budget exceeding one hundred million dollars annually. The VP of Supply Chain is responsible for building strategic alliances with facility and service center executives, directors, and staff as it relates to successfully performing the services required. This individual is responsible for leading change positively, and setting the tone of the department as a service organization, continuously seeking to understand, meet, and exceed customer needs.

Supervisor – Division Supply Chain Chief Executive Officer

Supervises – All facility supply chain personnel including ASCD, CRD, ORMM, CLIRMM, and all staff.

Key Interactions – Hospital Administrative/Executive Team, Supply Chain COO, CFO and DCRD

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
1. Leadership
a. Provide leadership and strategic direction in supply chain operations, supply expense management, and supply chain clinical integration
b. Establishes a clinically driven culture in Supply Chain through building strong alliances with hospital executives, physicians, and clinicians
c. Collaborate with facility and service center teams to assimilate information from a variety of sources and analyze financial, operational, clinical, quality, and service metrics
d. Communicate strategic recommendations and execute a course of action for overall improvement in operations, expense, clinical integration, quality, and service
e. Execute operations and expense management plans at the facility and report these results to the Supply Chain Chief Operating Officer in an accurate and timely manner
f. Participate in the identification, creation, or implementation of tools and best practices
g. Successfully integrate the department’s services with the hospital’s primary functions
h. Understand the strategies of the facility and develop plans to support those strategies
i. Develop and implement policies and procedures that guide or support service level expectations

2. Financial
a. Establish and meet expense savings goals for the facility
b. Develop detailed supply expense savings plans and monitor performance to plan
c. Provide expense saving enhancement strategies for supplies in collaboration with hospital leadership
d. Coordinate efforts to enable successful supply improvement initiatives by quantifying opportunities, tracking data, and providing project management support
e. Facilitate the standardization of products and optimization of supply utilization through effective collaboration with physicians and clinicians
f. Facilitate the implementation of division based purchasing projects at the facility

3. Operations
a. Execute infrastructure project plans the facility, including the implementation of the standardization programs for all supply chain functions (ie. SMART cleanup, master file standardization, online requisitioning, and EDI)
b. Execute the implementation and operational plan for all of the point of use systems
c. Manage facility implementation plans, identify and mitigate risks (leverage lessons learned, utilize proactive communication techniques), and monitor resource allocations to ensure successful execution of plan
d. Coordinate, manage, and evaluate facility supply chain personnel
e. Create a supportive environment for supply chain staff development and the delivery of supply chain solutions
f. Determine staff qualifications and develop and maintain accurate initial and annual competency checklists, and initiates completion of initial and annual competency attestation forms

4. Customer Service
a. Create internal customer confidence, strive to improve customer satisfaction, and manage customer expectations through alignment of key stakeholders
b. Demonstrate responsibility for solving customer challenges by soliciting opinions and ideas from customers, and following through with customer commitments

5. General knowledge/competencies
a. Demonstrate the ability to build and maintain strong, effective working relationships with a variety internal and external stakeholders
b. Provide effective verbal and written communication to a variety of stakeholders from executives to staff
c. Attend in-service presentations, and complete mandatory education including, but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, quality improvements, MSDS and OSHA Standards
d. Demonstrate knowledge of occurrence reporting system and utilizes system to report potential patient safety issues
e. Is authorized to transport and deliver legend drugs, non-prescription drugs, contrast media and drug-containing devices relative to core competencies of the position.
f. Perform other duties as assigned

*Strategic Plan Development -Develop and align Supply Chain Resources consistent with the facility and corporate initiatives; establish and implement new programs as identified by Supply Chain Leadership.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or similar is required

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three years hospital management experience required
Large hospital, multiple campus facility experience preferred
